SINGING FROM THE BOOK
Singing from the book (super librum cantare), during the Renaissance, meant adding one or more voices to a written melody while singing. In this workshop, we will explore, through improvisation, different models of counterpoint from the 15th and 16th centuries, belonging to 3 categories :
- Simple counterpoint (gymel, fauxbourdon, gymel + bassus, 4-part counterpoint)
- Florid counterpoint (1 voice over a cantus firmus, with melodic or rhythmic constraints)
- Canons (at the unison, at the octave and at the fifth)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND PROGRAMME: CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL
The course is organised into two level groups that sometimes work separately and sometimes together.

Without accommodation:
• 105 € - Use of the venue & 1 meal per day
• 180 € - Use of the venue & 2 meals per day
On-site accommodation and full board:
• 250 € - Meals + camping on the monastery grounds
• 290 € - Meals + room with 2, 3, or 4 beds
• 350 € - Meals + room with 1 bed
Meals are prepared by the monastery kitchen, which can accommodate special dietary requirements as far as possible.

INFORMATIONS
The course is limited to 20 participants. If there are not enough registrations by 23 September (one month before the course begins), Super Librum reserves the right to cancel the course.
